La Aurora 1495 Sumo Short Robusto

This is a cousin to the Sumo 107. The 1495 is a maduro. Both of the short robustos are 4 x 58 ring gauge. According to Halfwheel, they are constructed as follows:

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra

Binder: Dominican Corojo

Filler: Dominican Republic, Peru & Nicaragua

June 12th, 2023: I smoked two of these short robustos in early June. They are a darker roast flavour than their 107 cousin, but quite complex and very well constructed. They both hovered around the medium body level throughout. Strength was never and issue. Burn and draw were perfect. They easily allowed 60 minutes smoking time. I think I prefer the 107 for complexity and balance, but these are good and definitely worthwhile as a change from the 107. Quite satisfying.

August 11th, 2023: Started off with a nice, complex maduro flavour and delicious aroma. Towards the nub flavour dissipated to a less complex, vegetal profile. Draw and burn were excellent. Quite satisfying at around 50 minutes.

November 13th, 2023: Delicious, rich, complex. Burn was a bit wavy, requiring a couple of touch ups, but the major issue was that the cigar became very hot at around the final inch and half. Otherwise quite satisfying at 60 minutes.

January 15th, 2024: One of the best: rich, complex. Burn was wavy, draw was easy. This one didn't become too hot. Very satisfying. I didn't time it, but over an hour to the nub.

February 8th, 2024: Excellent, medium full bodied; or, full bodied but without spice or tar. Very smooth, slow burning, volumes of smoke output, excellent long finish and complex aftertaste. Came close to 80 minutes. Very satisfying.

April 12th, 2024, Turin: Full bodied but well balanced with a bit of strength, excellent complexity, good draw and burn. Very satisfying.

Baratti and Milano, Turin

April 29th, 2024: Last one in the box of ten and just as rich and delicious as the others. Very satisfying.
